Mahallem

Neighborhood network for communities. Multi-tenant · scalable per city · community-first.

Mahallem Neighborhood-network SaaS for local communities
In short

Mahallem is a neighbourhood-network SaaS for local communities. The platform is built multi-tenant and scales city by city, so every neighbourhood gets its own network without overlap. This lets residents connect locally while municipalities and organisations roll out one city at a time on a shared, secure foundation.

— CHALLENGE

The challenge at Mahallem.

Local communities organise themselves in scattered ways today: WhatsApp groups, Facebook, the occasional chat. None of it belongs to the neighbourhood itself, the data drifts off to large platforms, and newcomers fall away because there is no fixed place to land. Mahallem wanted to put a real neighbourhood network in its place, a home per community where people find each other, ask for help and share initiatives.

The request was not a single app for one district, but a foundation that rolls out per city. Every community needed its own space, strictly separated from the rest, without rebuilding from scratch for each neighbourhood.

— APPROACH

Our approach.

We built Mahallem as a multi-tenant SaaS, where a new community is a tenant rather than a separate install. The backend runs on Laravel and Filament with isolation at the data layer, so the members and messages of one neighbourhood never reach another. The interface is built in Next.js, tuned for fast loading and daily use on a phone.

The guiding principle was community-first: not the feed or the metrics at the centre, but the people and the help they offer each other. Onboarding, moderation and local initiatives took priority in the design, so a neighbourhood feels at home from day one.

— OUTCOME

What it delivered.

Mahallem now runs as a single platform that scales per city: adding a new community is a matter of creating a tenant, not starting another build. Each neighbourhood gets its own walled-off space on the same dependable base.

Because the architecture is scalable per city, the network grows without raising the complexity for the people who manage it. The community-first setup keeps the focus on mutual contact and local help, exactly what a neighbourhood network is for, while every community's data stays neatly with that community.
